So many terrible events, behind closed doors, in distant lands, and close by, make the world feel increasingly grim. It’s as if everything is on the verge of happening, yet somehow manageable. That tension is hard to grasp. From this confusion came the texts, and later, the drawings. What to do feels like reaching for something out of reach, while the figure in the drawing seems absent, turning its back, looking elsewhere. There’s a desire to act, but why doesn’t it happen? Why the passivity? What holds it back from fully plunging in?
“Aren’t we all worried” is a question to the viewer, seeking recognition of this feeling, a feeling of also loneliness and helplessness, much like the bird in the drawing.
